Kim Barrick

“Nature shows endless possibilities: a full palette of color, discrete variances in mood, and breathless compositions, grand or intimate.  The challenge is where to focus one’s attention today!”

Kim Barrick is a native of Colorado who now lives and works in Nashville, TN.  She travels and paints extensively throughout the Western region.  Four years ago she began a love affair with Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico that has brought her originals to the attention of collectors stricken with the same affliction of the heart.  Her fluid paintings reflect her deep connection to the diverse western landscape and the flora and wildlife of the area.

Her paintings of bird nests are treasures.  Several are featured in the Rose Room.   The aviary architects building home places integrated into natural surroundings evoke a sense of place and inspiration for the artist. Her paintings of snow-covered trees are breathtaking and adorn the walls of our Lobby every winter. These subjects mesmerize Kim Barrick, as continually reflected in her work.  Each original painting has an organic quality defined by the always present light and shadow capturing the mood of the moment.

Barrick is a sought after artist and instructor and a quiet supporter of the land she loves to paint, founding The Chestnut Group in 2001. www.chestnutgroup.org. Her works have been collected from coast to coast and in Europe, and we are thrilled to feature her newest collection at La Posada.

Like all of the other original pieces of art featured in the hotel’s Gallery Collection, the original paintings in our public spaces are for sale at the artist’s studio prices.

If you find something you simply cannot live without, please contact me for more information about the artists or for a short, private, complimentary tour of our art collection with stories of this historic hotel’s colorful history.  505-954-9668.
