Jill Pankey

Jill Pankey has just retired as a senior lecturer and art professor at Texas State University.  Her oil paintings are in demand, and she is now able to paint full time in her Texas studio.  She spends the month of July painting here in Santa Fe and every Friday in the bar at La Posada.

Ms. Pankey currently holds a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Texas, San Antonio, and a Masters of Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi.  She has divided her time between the classroom and her studios for the past twenty years.  It is not surprising that her award-winning paintings have an international audience of collectors.

The artist grew up on the Texas/Mexico border which has influenced her oil paintings that involve an interaction of color, dance and movement with an emphasis on the female form.  Her museum quality paintings of dance figures are brilliant in every way.  She considers her paintings of cowboy boots portraits.

During the past twenty years Jill Pankey established her reputation through gallery representation here at La Posada de Santa Fe and in galleries in Brackenridge, Colorado; San Antonio and Austin, Texas and in Russell, New Zealand where she was awarded a residency during her years as an art professor.

At La Posada we rejoice in the exuberance Ms. Pankey’s originals bring to the Staab Bar.  Hers is the art of an inspired and spirited painter whose hard work and commitment to her life as an American artist show in every painting she creates.

Feast your eyes! Jill Pankey’s work is featured in this main salon of the Staab Bar here at the hotel as well as in the main ladies’ room.  Such Fun!

Her work, like the other artists featured here at the hotel, is featured for sale at her studio prices.  We do not mark up the original art that is featured throughout the hotel in our public spaces.  Furthermore, if you purchase art at La Posada you can return each visit with a discounted room and no daily resort fees with the exception of our four blackout dates.  It is our way of thanking you for supporting artists.

Enjoy yourselves, and Cheers!
