Farther north but still an easy hour-and-a-half drive from La Posada de Santa Fe, Sipapu claims New Mexico’s longest ski season, typically kicking off in November and running through April. The slopes have a base elevation of 8,200 feet and 1,055 feet of vertical, with 41 trails split between beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert runs. Sipapu also maintains three terrain parks and a ski school and offers equipment for rent as well.
Sipapu receives some 190 inches of snow each year, bolstered by state-of-the-art snowmaking technology.
About two hours from our Tribute Portfolio resort, Taos Ski Valley makes a high-elevation snow sports paradise spread between a 9,200-foot base and an impressive 12,481-foot summit. The nearly 1,300-acre ski resort receives an average dumping of 300 inches of the white stuff, with snowmaking equipped for all the beginner and intermediate slopes.
