Top 3 Reasons to Stay at La Posada de Santa Fe

Among the most lauded hotels in New Mexico, La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa treats you to the finest in downtown Santa Fe accommodations. From the adobe architecture to the vivid paintings of the in-house art collection, our full-service six-acre resort exudes Southwestern atmosphere while serving as the perfect venue for a business retreat, a wedding, or simply a quiet vacation getaway in Four Corners country.

Here are three very good reasons to stay with us here at La Posada!

(1) The Art

They don’t call La Posada the “Art Hotel of Santa Fe” for nothing. Our resort comes magnificently decorated with the works of artists from Santa Fe, the Greater Southwest, and beyond, flawlessly curated by Sara Eyestone. Our hotel art program actually predates Santa Fe’s famous art galleries, and we’re proud to carry on the tradition in our Gallery Collection. You can take a look at our featured artists right here.

Ensconced as we are in the yawning, multicolored beauty of the American Southwest, it only makes sense to distill and reflect this beauty in paintings and sculptures throughout our grounds.

(2) The History

In New Mexico, history runs mighty deep—not least in Santa Fe, the oldest state capital in the country. Even as you soak in the most luxurious of modern resort-style accommodations here at La Posada de Santa Fe, you’re also steeping in many centuries of human stories: Pueblo and Spanish, Mexican and American.

Here you’ll find the magnificent French Second Empire architecture of the Staab Mansion, built in 1882 by Abraham Staab and perhaps still enjoyed by the spirit of his wife Julia. And then there’s the rich Southwestern atmosphere established by the historic adobe casitas harboring our guestrooms and suites, which flourish such features as exposed beam (viga) and wood-slat (latilla) ceilings and vintage hardwood or tile floors.

Santa Fe’s rich past colors everything about La Posada, where we nod to the region’s multicultural heritage and the many chapters of our property’s backstory amid the sheer luxury that we deliver to our guests.

(3) The Dining

The respect we have for our history is clear in the refined on-site dining options you get to enjoy during a La Posada retreat. Our flagship restaurant, Julia, is named for Mrs. Staab—an appropriate namesake, given how devotedly she and her husband entertained Santa Fe socialites here back in the late 19th century.

The Julia—recently spotlighted at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City—takes traditional Southwestern cuisine as a starting point to conjure up genuine gastronomic magic. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you’ll adore the dishes created by New Mexico-born Executive Sous Chef Mary Loya and her team. Definitely don’t miss the signature Chicken Mole.

And then there’s the Staab House, our much-loved bar situated in the original Staab Mansion (and, mind you, set along the Official Santa Fe Margarita Trail). Whether you’re sipping a cocktail by the fire (perhaps the Juliarita, named after Mrs. Staab) or clinking glasses out on the patio, there’s absolutely no better place to wind down a day in and around Santa Fe.

Now that we’ve started, we easily could go on and on detailing the one-of-a-kind virtues of La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa, but we hope we’ve sketched out enough of them to pique your interest. Come experience this very special haven in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico for yourself!
