Santa Fe Restaurant Walking Tours

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

No doubt about it: Santa Fe lays claim to some of the Southwest’s most dynamic cuisine. And when you stay with us here at La Posada Santa Fe, the city’s most exceptional dining opportunities are at your beck and call. We give you the best of both worlds: a luxurious and tranquil six-acre haven with the delights of downtown Santa Fe—including stellar eateries—within easy reach.

For a convenient and illuminating introduction to the cream-of-the-crop of Santa Fe Cuisine, consider joining one of the guided Restaurant Walking Tours offered by the Santa Fe School of Cooking. Offered in three different packages, these gustatory walkabouts include private tastings and meet-and-greets with chefs, sommeliers, and other restaurant professionals. It all adds up to a fun, intimate look at the diversity and quality of cookery in one of America’s oldest cities.

Whether you’re signing on to a Santa Fe School of Cooking Restaurant Walking Tour or striking out on your own self-guided dining safari, let’s take a look at a mere sampling of the top-class restaurants you can check out in the La Posada Santa Fe neighborhood!

The Palace Restaurant & Saloon

From the Grand Dining Room to the saloon, elegant nods to Santa Fe’s past help define the ambiance at the Palace. The menu covers a lot of culinary territory, but New Mexican stylings anchor proceedings: from mole-boosted lamb chops to delectable stuffed peppers.

il Piatto

The Old World-inspired dishes conjured up at il Piatto Italian Farmhouse Kitchen benefit from the local bounty of Santa Fe’s foodshed: The restaurant taps New Mexico producers and foragers for the freshest and most flavorful ingredients. Bolstering lunch and dinners are il Piatto’s highly recommended afternoon and late-night happy hours…

Sazon

This absolutely gorgeous restaurant brings you old and new flavors alike from the fabulously rich and complex world of Mexican cuisine, your skillful and creative guide Mexico City-born Chef Fernando Olea. The bloodstream of Sazon, you might say, is mole: that ancient and highly varied sauce that can take your tastebuds to transcendent heights. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience this sublime concoction from a genuine mole master.

Joseph’s Culinary Pub

How can you resist an establishment labeled as a “culinary pub?” The latest version of Chef Joseph Wrede’s beloved Joseph’s Table (established in Taos close to two decades ago), this bold eatery draws on inspiration from New Mexico and all around the world and marries old-school tradition with creativity and kitchen artistry.

Dining at La Posada

We heartily encourage you to explore the fantastic restaurants of downtown Santa Fe—but be sure to spare some of that appetite of yours for our very own exquisite dining destinations right here at La Posada! Julia ranks among the best places for a meal anywhere in the city, while the Patio Restaurant and the Staab House combine tasty eats and choice libations with convivial and relaxing atmosphere.

With Santa Fe’s finest epicurean opportunities at your fingertips—and right under your nose, too—a stay at La Posada Santa Fe can be a genuinely mouthwatering experience. Explore the unique multicultural cuisine of New Mexico and dishes from all over the globe, both, with La Posada your gourmet launch pad.

Award Winning Chef Joins La Posada de Santa Fe, a Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa

The culinary scene at La Posada de Santa Fe, a Tribute Portfolio Resort & Spa, has gotten even hotter with the recent appointment of Jon Jerman as executive chef.

Over the past two decades, Jerman has sharpened his award-winning skills at some of the most prestigious resorts in the country including the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia, the Harbor View Hotel in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts and the Sonnenalp Resort & Spa in Vail, Colorado.

“Exceptional hospitality and cuisine are long-standing traditions at La Posada,” said Joe Kelley, general manager of the resort. “Jon and I worked together previously and he has both the vision and expertise to build upon these traditions and take our culinary programs to even higher levels.”

Jerman’s vision incorporates upscale dining with regionally-inspired fare and unique menus at each of the resort’s venues. Restaurants include Julia, a Spirited Restaurant & Bar, named after Julia Staab, the resort’s original owner, legendary hostess and reputed ghost; the La Posada Patio for seasonal outdoor dining and The Staab House, named “Santa Fe’s Coziest Bar” by Travel+Leisure Magazine.

As a long-term advocate of the Farm to Table movement, Jerman utilizes locally sourced products including beef from a coop of small Native American ranches and produce from family-owned local farms. For food that cannot be obtained locally, he focuses on securing the highest quality products available from sustainable sources.
